The First 100% Public Company In SL

Since the exit of Monkey Canning from management of ESN and its parent company, AVC, his shares have been redistributed to the shareholders of AVC. Also the shares in ESN held by BNF have been distributed to that defunct VSTEX company. This makes ESN fully 100% public. The new management have all acquired their stakes on the open market.

The plan they present has been accepted by the ESN Board of Directors, after the board hired them to manage the company.

And a strong management it is.

CEO Stray Underwood has RL experience managing a successful businessman for 8 years, working as a consultant to restaruants currently, he launched a skating school, which he sold it 3 years later for a 400% profit. He currently works in game and website development.

VP JayT Axel is holder of a degree in economics and management and an mba in finance. After 6 moths training as junior trader in a brokage, he finally joined a company as Manger. He has been working for a music magazine as sales, coaching at Averlast boxing gym and trading on stock at the ISE and ACE before joining the board of ESN as VP.

CFO Redd OConnell is a RL financial expert, and is widely known in SL for his Verve Financial family of exchange traded funds on ACE, as well as being a finance writer for sl-newspaper.com and commentator on Metaverse-tv.com.

The new business plan that these gentlemen have put forth is both ambitious, visionary, and cutting edge, but at the same time they have both the experience and the plan to make it happen for a very conservative budget due to their strategic partnerships they are developing.

After being run generally as a one man show in the past, the team here is both mature, talented, and experienced to make this plan happen.

Business Overview

Express Shopping Network is a retail company, which using a highly detailed HUD (Heads Up Display) in the virtual world of Second Life, brings a new level of shopping to the virtual platform. From any place within Second Life you will be able to shop for products from all of your favourite shops.

No longer will people have to search through false search results, teleport to laggy shops, or waste time trying to find the right item, now you can open the ESN HUD and never have to leave the event or place your in.

Also, Express Shopping Network will sell a massive collection of top quality name brand real world products. So you can enjoy your friends in world, or remain at the event having fun, but get that important gift.

With Express Shopping Network's goals, shopping in the virtual realm will now be par with ecommerce. Many people are working on bridging the gap between independent grids, and bringing the functions of the internet into the virtual arena and Express Shopping Network will be there every step of the way to lead the retail evolution.

Business Strategy

An initial advertising campaign will be conducted and once the ESN HUD is known and used, word of mouth will be more powerful then spending massive amounts of money on billboards no one looks at.
We will use many high traffic SL related sites, sponsor events, and get ESN and our HUD in the public eye.

The first stage of advertising will target new players and vendors, just like real world advertising, targeting the young now implants the idea for when they grow up, in second life terms growing up means spending money.
In the second stage of advertising we will go after more established vendors, who will bring along their current customer base.
During both stages advertising will also be done on a personal level (advertising can not sell an idea as well as a conversation) approaching vendors to get support behind the HUD.

Business Strengths

It’s a simple and great idea.
With more and more updates to the client, many common users have a hard time with second life running and switching over to the internet. Convenience of the ESN HUD will be its main draw. Vendors can lower land holdings and save more money, new vendors can get their products on the market with no land or upfront costs, this HUD could be the one product everyone has. And if all the customers have the ESN HUD, vendors will have no choice but to join up.

With an organized catalogue of items, the ease of use, navigation will be the simplest shopping experience second life has seen to date. The HUD will be designed to mimic the second life interface, also getting people used to the idea that the HUD should be, or is something they need.

And the strongest selling point is the cost to vendors, a 3% fee tacked on to every transaction; it might seem low to see the number 3 by its self so:

The hottest selling dress costs $L400, 100 people buy it today. On that one product ESN had made $L1, 200 in one day. With thousands of products listed the profit of 3% per sale will be a large gain.

Our full line of real world products will be a collection of high quality products, and with our shipping areas covering most of the globe, there is no end to the profit we can bring in. Once an order is placed with ESN the product can be in the customer’s hands within weeks.
Top quality products from some of the most trusted brands will add a never before seen level of retail leadership in second life.

Opportunities
This has the potential to change how shopping is done within second life, and if you are the leader in changing the main draw of second life you have the opportunity to create a long term profitable business. The ease of use with an organized catalogue and convenience of our HUD can change how second life operates.

With many people having trouble making tire payment the HUD may be the best option for people not able to maintain a full time shop.

Use of Capital

The SPO funds will be used as follows:

Initial advertising: $L200, 000
Rent for office space: $L14, 400 (6 months of rent for office space.)
System development: $L100,000
Any remaining funds will be earmarked for development with any funds not used going towards boosting the advertising.

ESN will use profits to continually improve the service and maintain the security of our HUD. If no improvements are implemented into Second life that can benefit the HUD the first version of the HUD will be strong enough to maintain with little upkeep.

ESN will also use some of the profit on research and development, looking into other areas of Second life we can enter, and also other virtual platforms we may be able to operate in. Also translating the HUD into every language we can.

Risk Factors

Weaknesses
SLExchange has been the main source for catalogue shopping for a long time. And so competing with them will be difficult, however SLX is out off world where as ESN is inwolrd. Also the service has not seen a major upgrade in a long time and it is becoming more annoying to customers then ever.

Threats
Someone could relatively easily set up a similar system and thus cause competition, however, we will be ahead of the game, and have far greater resources than many.

There are already one stop shopping companies established, they could upgrade, or implement their own HUD and use their brand power to keep customers going to them.

- LL could go bankrupt

- Public could grow bored with SL

- LL could implement a shopping system along the same lines as the ESN HUD.

- Scandal/Fraud: Despite our best efforts at oversight, there remains the threat of possible fraud by companies or persons making mock ESN HUDs or tampering with the backend of the system. This is a real threat, and unavoidable in entirety due to the pseudo-anonimical nature of the internet and SL. We can however take real steps to minimize this threat as much as possible, regular testing, research, and back ups.
