Last week we saw a lot of anti-business people show up at Jack's office hours trying to demand price controls on land. No, despite what you may think, it wasn't to mandate minimum price controls. You'd think after the past years meltdown in the land market that more people would be on the rampage to lynch Jack for the way LL has dumped land on the market, and destroyed our investments in land, but no.

Instead, the socialists in the ironically named Arbor movement (which is really a front for a few businesspeople and has always removed trees, not planted them, on virtual land) are trying to force LL to make selling land for a high price an abuse offense.

While many people don't like the tactics of some people in the advertising and land game, the fact is that high land prices on rare small parcels not only are factual representations of market scarcity of prims in mainland sims (something I shouldn't need to lecture anybody about here), but these prices counterbalance the misrepresentational land prices of so much land that is exchanged for 1 or 0 L$ simply because the actual transaction is a rental, or the customer is paying via paypal. These innacurate low prices drag down the average market prices and send a false price signal to land sellers and buyers, making them think land prices are lower than they really are.

It is this false perception diverging from real average prices that enables landbots to thrive on the spread between perception and reality.

What is so ironic is the people demanding price fixing also tend to be against landbots as well, yet if their proposals pass, market averages will fall further, making lanbot running more profitable, leading to an increase in the number of landbot runners, and public cries of abuse by landbots will only increase.

I encourage every business person to attend Jack Linden's office hours again tomorrow, at 11 am SLT/PDT, as these same anti-business demagogs are going to be there continuing to rant in favor of their drastic, extremist socialist claptrap. It is IMHO imperative that we in the business community stand as one against this anti-market behavior.
